One day I went back into the store that I found the book "Stencil Pirates" in and there was an art show being held on their wall of a group of artists known as the Vinyl Killers. They had used the same methods of stencils and spray paint as on the streets, but these were done on vinyl records. It was such a great idea. I had already become fascinated with stencils and now I became aware of a whole group of artists that resurrected old vinyl records into artwork. Cooencidentally within the next couple months I got a job at a record store and had access to a multitude of disposable records. I spent the next couple months playing around with spray paint, stencils and records. I read online that the Vinyl Killers were having an open submission that year for their show in Portland. Unfortunately I was too chicken shit to submit anything seeing as I had only been making them for a couple months and couldn't bear the rejection. Needless to say, I've been doing this for awhile now in anticipation for the next submission.
